International Travel: 3 Ways To Do It Right

Traveling for business or pleasure can go one of two ways: you can have an amazing adventure, or a dismal disappointment depending on how prepared you are. If you are setting sail on an international trip or hotel stay, like those offered by Montanita Estates, you may be wondering how to avoid pitfalls that can derail your trip. Below are 3 tips that can help you avoid troublesome traveling as you get from point A to point B.

Prep Work

To properly enjoy your vacation or business trip, make sure you have taken care of everything back home. Make sure all your accounts are up to date. If you are traveling for an extended period of time, inform your financial institutions. If you are traveling to an international location to conduct business or purchase property, make sure you have all the necessary documents to complete your transactions. Keep these documents on your person as you travel. Losing such delicate information can derail your transaction and/or compromise your identity.

Lastly, have a backup form of financial support. You may be planning on using one credit card exclusively, but pack a secondary card or traveler's checks in the event your card isn't accepted at your place of business or if you lose your card.

Surviving a Long Flight

Some of the most desired and exotic locations take many hours, if not days, to travel to. In your carry-on, make sure you have your regular medications available as well as a few extras like:

  • Painkillers
  • Antacids
  • Anti-diarrhea
  • Sleep aid

Having this medication on hand can help you survive a less-than-stellar flight for a variety of reasons.

Another way you can help yourself on a long flight is to pack an extra change of clothing along with any essentials you need to get ready. This is especially important if you are hitting the ground running once you get off the flight. It also will bail you out should your luggage get lost. You'll at least have one change of clothing and the essentials you need to get ready in the morning until your luggage can be found.

Lastly, pack some snacks. You never know when you'll get stuck on the tarmac or delayed somewhere. Pack nutritious and filling snacks that will sustain you for hours if necessary.

Don't Forget the Essentials

There are a few key essentials you can't live without when traveling abroad:

  • Power converter - You are going to need a way to recharge your electronics. Make sure you have a reliable power converter to keep in touch with those you love.
  • Local currency - It never hurts to have a stash of local currency on your person, should you get somewhere that doesn't accept credit cards.
  • Cross-body purse - This is imperative if you are sightseeing especially. A cross body purse or bag protects your valuables from being snatched off your shoulder. Keep the pouch in front of you so you have easy access.
  • Appropriate clothing - Even if you are traveling to an exotic beach location, everywhere you go has some form of inclement weather. Don't get caught in a storm with just a bikini! Pack a warm, waterproof coat along with a pair of pants and reliable walking shoes.

Don't become a victim of a disastrous vacation. By getting your affairs in order before you leave, packing for a successful flight, and making sure you have all your essentials once you arrive, you will ace your international vacation!
